The New York Botanical/Zoological Photographic Society is about the many joys of photography and the togetherness it brings. We meet on the first and third Saturday mornings at Fordham Prep School on the Fordham University Campus in the Bronx at 9:30 AM. The first Saturday we meet for competition in the categories of slides, and color and black-and-white prints, as well as our special Theme competition. On the third Saturday we hold either workshops by qualified photographers or slide shows. We also hold classes in photography (learning to use your camera) and field trips. Join us. We would like you to share in the wonderful experiences that we are having with photography!

Our 55th Season Starts with a Special Presentation by Allen Rokach! We're pleased to announce our Opening Day presentation by world-reknowned photographer, Allen Rokach. Allen has traveled the world since 1975 on photographic assignments that range from the bulb fields of Holland and the antiquities of Egypt to the vast Amazonian rain forest. An expert in location photography best known for his photographs of flowers, gardens and landscapes, his work has spanned everything from public relations and photojournalism to art and sculpture to travel and features about people. In the course of his career, he also served for fourteen years as the staff photographer and Director of Photography at the New York Botanical Garden and ten years as a Senior Photographer for Southern Living magazine.Free admission to Allen's presentation at 9:45am. Light refreshments will follow afterwards.

Elinor's Cure for Layerphobia Layers are the power behind Photoshop, and not using them is like having a GPS in your car and not turning it on. Like the GPS, Layers will give you a better route to your destination and let you easily correct mistakes. Layers also enable you to create images not possible otherwise. Elinor’s presentation demonstrates the potential of layers, clarifies their use, and has some excitement for experienced and beginner Photoshop users.
